I do have a request and that is if you are interested in fishing on Folkestone pier, or fishing on the beach please please let me know.
Maybe you are a regular on the beach or pier and can share some of your tips with us.
I was surprised when i arived At the sea front that the fairground has gone, luckily the cockle and whelk stalls are still there.
I do love my sea food prawns crab etc, if you are like me and love it be sure to give some of it a go.
Folkestone sea food is the best you can get.

Fishing on Folkestone pier was our first lads from work fishing trip.
I had been Fishing on Folkestone pier before a few times and never blanked, so that swung it and arrangements were made for a days fishing.
In all only four people ended up going, me Paul his cousin Harold and brian.
Brian is probably the most experienced fisherman amongst us having lived in Norfolk for many years.
I have done a bit in the past caught a few gar fish, a bass and not forgetting the huge wrasse from Brixam breakwater.
Paul and harold have done a bit from where and how often im not sure.
Ok on to our days fishing on the pier...
Myself and brian arived on the pier at around 9.30 am , harold and paul had been there since about half seven.
We asked the lads if they had caught anything yet, their faces said it all really ha ha.
Me and brian were soon set up and with his first cast Brian pulls in a dogfish, of around 16 inches long.
Paul then hits one of a similar size about ten mins later.
We were fishing nigh on at the end of the pier , and the tide was just satarting to come in.
Anyone who knows Folkestone pier will know that its quite snaggy right at the end and we all lost a fair bit of kit.
It was about an hour later that i hooked my first fish, a dogfish as shown in the pictures.
Yellowtail lug bought me a few small Pouting while mackerel strip bought in the dogfish.
If im honest i had a nightmare that day, if my hooks could tangle in something before casting it did.
Should there be a snag i found it :o), that said in all it was an enjoyable days fishing.
The ens reult was Brian caught seven , i caught three, paul one, and Harold blanked.
Brian and i were both looking foreward to trying our hand at our multiplyers, mines a slosh 20 .
In my next post i will tell you about how we both got on with them, in wet and windy conditions.

FIRST FEW CASTS WITH A DIAWA SL20SH sl2osh
As ive said before i have the 2 red blocks fitted to my sl20, i believe the oil in the bearings is red rocket.
I baught the reel about five years ago from a place in Cornwall, the fellow in the tackle shop set it up for a novice :o)
Prior to the fishing trip to Folkestone stripped off the old line and painstakingly filled the spool with 15 lb line.
Like i said before fishing conditions were not ideal, not from the casting point of view at least...
Once i had the rod ready to go baited up etc, i tried the release the spool and let the weight hit the deck looking for over run.
After a little tensioning on the end float of the spool i was ready to give it a go.
The first cast was lets say a bit aprehensive, but off went the tackle heading for france.
Although the lead spent a while in the air, the wind was in my face and keeping an eye out for impact i slowed the spool down with my thumb.
A small over run but no major birdsnest. (thank god)
Distance was not great and a huge loop in the line was soon taken back in.
One of the next few casts resulted in a snag, lost everything and a fair bit of line. (along with the shockleader.)
No problem i thaught ive got some in my tackle box, oops had left it at home.
I caried on with out one and caught my first dogfish, in fact my first fish with the sl20sh.
In all i got on ok with the reel but havent really go the hang of laying the line on the reel while realing in.
Next time i will remove one of the brake blocks and se how it goes.
